A year ago, in November I took part in the Santino Rice t-shirt design competition. Santino Rice was a contestant in Project Runway Season 2 and he was the second-runner up in the final runway show. I got to know about the competition when I visited the newurbalmale.com website. It was 8 days before the submission, and at that point of time I was having my school break. I joined the competition, without even thinking of winning; just for the fun of it.

I did embroidery of Santino's face on the t-shirt. And oh God....It took me 8 days to get it done! It wasn't easy, to be honest. And also, I did freehand line drawings on the shirt!
I could still remember during the submission day....It was an hour before time, and I had a lot more to do. I rushed for quite abit, managed to get it done on time. I was in the cab, and my hands were all shaking. I felt good that I got to submit it on time!
Few days after submission, I received an e-mail message from Discovery Channel Travel & Living. This is what I received :
Dear Riddy,
Congratulations! You have been shortlisted as one of the 10 finalists for the Flex Your CreativiT contest. Your T-shirt will be exhibited at The Heeren, starting Thursday, 16 Nov.
Santino Rice will pick the top 3 winners on Wednesday, 22 Nov at The Heeren at 6pm. Please be there!
Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
I was so happy that I got into the finals! But at one point of time, I also couldn't believe that I got into the top 10.
I ended up winning the grand prize! I was so happy because Santino himself was the judge and he was really impressed with my design and chose mine as the winner. I won a $1000 cash and a dinner for two with Santino Rice! HURRAY!
The winning design for the competition:

Dinner with Santino Rice and my bestie, Paige. An autograph by Santino Rice on my sketch book.=D

And finally, another surprise of my life! I was featured with Santino Rice in the January issue of SEVENTEEN magazine (Singapore). =D

Alright, cheers everyone! =D
